How to Address “Dating Evangelism” (Ezra)

What does a godly dating relationship look like? Sometimes this can leave us feeling frustrated and abandoned—but our God has promised never to leave us Deuteronomy He is a patient teacher, and He has a good plan for you and me, regardless of our relationship status. But even though my failed relationships were painful at the time, looking back, I can see how God was and is still using each one to grow me into maturity. Dating should be fun and exciting, but it also represents a holy purpose and a potential covenant union. The last half of Ephesians 5 is full of imagery of the global church as the bride of Christ. One of my most painful relationships was due almost entirely to its lack of clarity. I was so eager to move forward, and he seemed to be dragging his feet. At the time, I was frustrated, but too afraid to invite a clear conversation.

He was unashamed and earnest. Reader, I married him. And for more than ten years he has continued to pray, every morning before we walk out the door and every evening in our living room.

Praying with my husband, hearing him talk about the Scriptures, and together discussing spiritual things has been one of the great joys of our marriage, a vital means to my own spiritual growth and an encouragement to our fellowship, not only as husband and wife but as brother and sister in the Lord. Singles and Evangelism

Using the perspective that Jesus was single and assuming the definition of single means unmarried , we are able to learn by example and see some practical and significant ways a single person can use the single stage in life to advantage in being a leader, in touching lives, and in influencing change and transformation. I was evangelistically dated into the church. Of course my growth was entirely dependent on a very dedicated man named Steve Sinor. Now as for my girlfriend of a week or two long she did not stay at the church much longer after we broke up. I suppose the lesson from my story is that we should find those things we can do for other people that will show them how much we care for them.

I believe this will involve some sacrifice on our part. After all if we are not willing to sacrifice a little time, money or whatever else we have we probably don’t really care about them. I sure know that Steve definitely sacrificed his time for me.

While teaching a recent Colson Center Short Course, I was asked about the dating of John’s Gospel. This New Testament text is generally believed to have been.

My friend is a Southern Baptist pastor and his statement about the Catholic Church floored me and it wasn’t about what you are probably thinking it was. He told me a story about when he was in seminary in the 80s. One of his seminary professors was teaching a class on missiology, which is the study of Christian mission. They did an exhaustive historical study on the spread of the Gospel. Toward the end of the class, one student asked what we could do to reach the world with the Gospel.

Was it a matter of greater missionary zeal? His response was, “it isn’t just missionary zeal. We will reach the world with the Gospel when the Catholic Church recaptures her mission given to her by Jesus. My Baptist friend agreed with his prof and has waited for Catholics to rise up. He said I was one of the few Catholics he had ever met, who was actually trying to evangelize. I promised him I am not the only one.

Shortly after I began dating Rob, I was talking with one of his friends. “He’s a great guy,” she said. “But have you heard him pray?” Her question.

Christians have traditionally identified him with John the Apostle , John of Patmos , or John the Presbyter , [2] although this has been disputed by some modern scholars. The Gospel of John refers to an otherwise unnamed ” disciple whom Jesus loved “, who “bore witness to and wrote” the Gospel’s message. Christian tradition says that John the Evangelist was John the Apostle.

The Apostle John was one of the “pillars” of the Jerusalem church after Jesus’ death. It had been believed that he was exiled around 95 AD to the Aegean island of Patmos , where he wrote the Book of Revelation. However, some attribute the authorship of Revelation to another man, called John the Presbyter , or to other writers of the late first century AD. Orthodox Roman Catholic scholarship, most Protestant churches, and the entire Eastern Orthodox Church attribute all of the Johannine literature to the same individual, the “Holy Apostle and Evangelist, John the Theologian”, whom it identifies with the “Beloved Disciple” in the Gospel of John.

The authorship of the Johannine works has been debated by scholars since at least the 2nd century AD. Orthodox tradition attributes all of the Johannine books to John the Apostle.
